The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) today released the video of one of their officers rescuing a non-responsive truck driver from a burning tractor-trailer on I-85. The incident occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
SPD Lt. Corey Brooks was responding after hours to a separate incident shortly before 9 p.m. when he observed a tractor-trailer hit the retaining wall and catch fire. Without hesitation, Brooks stopped and ran to the truck's cab, where he found the driver, Michael Williams, unconscious.

The City of Salisbury welcomes residents and visitors to a special “Meet the Chief” event, Tuesday, Aug. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Park, 316 Lake Dr. There, new Salisbury Police Chief P.J. Smith will greet and engage with attendees about his vision for public safety in Salisbury.
This month’s employee spotlight is Corporal Thomas Bautista with the Salisbury Police Department (SPD). He works on David Team and assists the sergeant with nightly police operations. Corporal Bautista also performs field supervision of patrol activities, and maintains and ensures SPD’s policies and procedures are followed.
Salisbury will celebrate local community agencies, neighborhoods and law enforcement partnerships at a combined Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and National Night Out event, Tuesday, Aug. 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Bell Tower Green Park.
