The City of Salisbury has reached an agreement with Cube Yadkin Generation to fund a portion of the $31.5 million project to relocate the City’s raw water pump station at the Yadkin River. The pump station is critical to the City’s water supply infrastructure and provides drinking water for more than 52,000 Salisbury-Rowan Utilities’ customers. Once complete, this infrastructure project will protect the City’s pump station from the effect of worsening flooding at the current location.
Cheerwine the iconic 106-year-old cherry soda and its hometown, the City of Salisbury, will host the annual Cheerwine Festival on Saturday, May 20, from noon to 10 p.m.

This month’s employee spotlight is Mel Dye, a 20-year veteran of the City of Salisbury and current administrative specialist in Downtown Salisbury Inc. (DSI).
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) recently issued a drinking water notice to customers following a drop in the removal rate of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) in the untreated “raw” water from the Yadkin River. TOC has no health effects. This is not an emergency and does not require customers to use an alternative water supply (e.g. bottled).
Chris Tester is now Salisbury’s permanent public works director after carrying the “interim” title for the previous four months. His new position is effective immediately.

This program will help build character, self-esteem, friendship, and teamwork. This is an excellent opportunity to meet kids the same age with the same interest. Practices are (once a week) beginning the first of April with games starting at the end of April. Volunteer coaches are needed!

The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) will resume its Salisbury Neighborhood Action Group (SNAG) meetings beginning Wednesday, March 1. The meetings have been suspended since the start of the pandemic.
