Salisbury Sculpture Show Has New Neighbors

One of the prettiest feathers in Salisbury’s cap, the Sculpture Show, curated by the Salisbury Public Arts Commission, has returned with 21 new sculptures by artists from across the Eastern United States.

As a new initiative for 2022, the Public Arts Commission made a call for neighborhoods to apply as hosts for sculptures. Featured neighborhoods this year are: Castlewood, Country Club Hills, and Milford Knoll Neighborhood.

Employee Spotlight: Paula Craven, Senior Customer Service Representative

This month’s employee spotlight is Paula Craven, a senior customer service representative. She celebrates her 10-year work anniversary with the City of Salisbury this month. In her role, Paula responds to residents’ requests over email and phone, interprets and translates for the Spanish-speaking community, and receives and processes municipal utility payments.

Salisbury Police Investigating Oakwood Avenue Homicide

The Salisbury Police Department responded to 121 Oakwood Avenue shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 5, for the report of a shooting. Upon the arrival of officers and other emergency personnel, Dwayne Coward, 39, was found deceased after succumbing to his injuries.

Hallmark Movie to film in Salisbury

Road closures, detours expected along South Fulton, West Horah, Main, Fisher Streets

Salisbury will serve as the backdrop for an upcoming Hallmark Movie beginning next week. The production may affect travel near Salisbury High School, homes along the 400 block of South Fulton Street, and the 100 block of East Fisher Street, Tuesday, June 28 through Friday, July 1. Intermittent road closures also may occur on Saturday, July 2 along South Fulton Street. Detour signage will be in place.

City of Salisbury announces its 2024 Veterans Day operations schedule

The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for the Veterans Day holiday, Monday, Nov. 11:

City office buildings, including the Salisbury Customer Service Center and recreation centers will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11.
Salisbury Transit will not offer transit services on Monday, Nov. 11. Regular routes will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The city’s public works department will offer its regular garbage and recycling collection on Monday, Nov. 11. The department will not offer limb or leaf collection on Monday, Nov. 11.
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities’ administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11. If you have a water/sewer emergency after hours or during the holiday, please call (704) 638-5339.
The Salisbury Community Park will be open on Monday, Nov. 11.
The police and fire departments will remain available for emergency services, as usual, during the holiday.
