Due to inclement weather, drivers are being asked to stay off the roads if possible, and to exercise caution when driving due to slippery roads.
Regarding city services:
- The Salisbury Customer Service Center is closed
- Salisbury Transit have suspended bus services as of 10:40 today
- Recycling collection services have been suspended
- Parks and Recreation events and programs are cancelled
- Parks and Recreation facilities will close at 5:00 p.m. today
- Girls Who Code is cancelled

Fibrant plays host to MAGIC’s fifth Capture the Flag Cybersecurity competition

The Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC), in partnership with Fibrant and various other localities from across the nation, will host its fifth Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fibrant CTF event will be held on the same date and time at Salisbury City Hall, 217 S. Main St.

Cemetery Clean Up

The annual cemetery cleanup is scheduled for March 12-16 in preparation for the seasonal cemetery mowing in early April. Residents are asked to remove flowers, gifts and other mementos off of their plots before Monday, March 12. Anything on plots during the week of March 12-16 will be removed and discarded.

Teen Center Now Open

Parks and Recreation 0 36690

After a year of discussions and planning, the new Teen Center at the Miller Recreation Center, 1402 W. Bank St., will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m.

Following a call by citizens for fun, safe programming for youth in the community and affordable options for parents, the parks and recreation department began to formulate a plan to introduce a Center in early 2017.

Local Humanitarians Receive EDK Awards

Three members of the Salisbury-Rowan community were awarded Elizabeth Duncan Koontz (EDK) Awards for their contributions to improving human relations in the areas of education, employment, housing, industry, business, civic, church, advocacy and community service.

Herman Peterson, Tonya Cross and Melissa Summers were honored by their peers at the EDK Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 22.

Salisbury Transit and Livingstone College will continue the partnership that offers enhanced, weekend transportation routes for students living on the main campus and at the new hospitality management campus on Jake Alexander Blvd. to allow for greater mobility for students throughout the City.
