Make a difference by helping build our community one neighborhood at a time! This year's BLOCKWORK project is on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The lucky neighborhood this year is the 700-800 block of N. Lee St.

Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander will host a free baseball and softball camp for local youth at Catawba College, Saturday, Sept. 9, as part of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) continued support of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) “PLAY BALL SUMMER” initiative. 

Diane Gilmore has been appointed Salisbury City Clerk. While the city manager appoints the city clerk, the position must be approved by City Council. She will be officially sworn in on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Salisbury residents who participated in the Community Action Planning Sessions, which centered on four focus areas necessary for Salisbury’s future, will reconvene Monday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 19, to collectively approve the strategic goals they developed earlier in the year.

City Clerk Myra Heard has announced her retirement, effective Friday, Sept. 1.

Salisbury Assistant City Manager John Sofley will retire from the city effective Friday, Dec. 29. This year will mark his 30th year as a Salisbury employee.
