Rowan Creek Week Returns

The Fifth Annual Rowan Creek Week is happening from Saturday, Sept. 16 through Saturday, Sept. 23. In conjunction with multiple environmental organizations and local municipal departments, Creek Week offers recreational, educational, and volunteer opportunities to allow everyone to enjoy and contribute to healthy waters in our area. The City of Salisbury will host several events.

BlockWork Looking For Volunteers On October 28, 2023

This year’s BlockWork event will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the 200 and 300 blocks of Lloyd Street, in the West End Neighborhood. We are looking for volunteers to sign up for any amount of two-hour slots that fit their schedule. Applications will be accepted through Monday, October 23, and volunteers receive a t-shirt, gloves, meals, snacks, drinks, and ice cream

Salisbury Police releases video of Lt. Corey Brooks' heroic rescue

The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) today released the video of one of their officers rescuing a non-responsive truck driver from a burning tractor-trailer on I-85. The incident occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
SPD Lt. Corey Brooks was responding after hours to a separate incident shortly before 9 p.m. when he observed a tractor-trailer hit the retaining wall and catch fire. Without hesitation, Brooks stopped and ran to the truck's cab, where he found the driver, Michael Williams, unconscious.

Greenway, Bicycle & Pedestrian committee meeting

The Greenway, Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee’s mission is to create a safe, connected, and accessible network of bike lanes, sidewalks, and greenways to encourage walking and cycling for transportation, recreation, and health benefits. To advocate for infrastructure improvements, policies, programs, and grants that prioritize alternative modes of transportation for the Salisbury Community. To promote collaboration and partnerships among city and county officials, and staff; tourism; advocacy groups; and the community to insure buy-in and support from the broader constituents. With a goal to integrate new pedestrian and bicycle plans and policy recommendations with existing efforts at local, county, and regional levels.
