The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 29.

The City of Salisbury has been recognized by the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) with a “First Year, Silver Award” for maintaining a safe and healthful workplace in 2016.

The Salisbury Community Appearance Commission is now accepting applications from Salisbury city neighborhoods through May 31. The 2017 Blockwork event has been set for Saturday, October 28, on “Make a Difference Day.”

City Manager W. Lane Bailey has presented his proposed budget for the fiscal year 2018 (FY18) to Salisbury City Council.

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) will begin upgrades to its water meter system within the City limits this week. The “Smart Meter” project is expected to take approximately six months to complete.

The City of Salisbury public services department will begin street resurfacing starting the week of April 24, and  lasting for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

The City of Salisbury has named Greensboro Police Captain Shon Fitzgerald Barnes as its deputy police chief. Barnes has an extensive background in law enforcement, with a career spanning nearly two decades serving the City of Greensboro Police Department.

The City of Salisbury was among 22 North Carolina local governments to earn recognition in the Tenth North Carolina City & County Communicators’ (NC3C) Excellence in Communications Awards.

The Downtown Salisbury, Inc. (DSI) executive director will become an employee of the City of Salisbury, creating a semi-public/private partnership with the Main Street program, effective Saturday, July 1. The executive director will report to Assistant City Manager Zack Kyle.
