Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander will host a free baseball and softball camp for local youth at Catawba College, Saturday, Sept. 9, as part of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) continued support of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) “PLAY BALL SUMMER” initiative. 

Salisbury names Diane Gilmore as City Clerk

Diane Gilmore has been appointed Salisbury City Clerk. While the city manager appoints the city clerk, the position must be approved by City Council. She will be officially sworn in on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Salisbury residents who participated in the Community Action Planning Sessions, which centered on four focus areas necessary for Salisbury’s future, will reconvene Monday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 19, to collectively approve the strategic goals they developed earlier in the year.

Sofley announces retirement

Salisbury Assistant City Manager John Sofley will retire from the city effective Friday, Dec. 29. This year will mark his 30th year as a Salisbury employee.


 

Smarter Water Management is Coming to Salisbury-Rowan Utilities!

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities has contracted with Vanguard Utility Service for the installation of an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system. Advanced metering technology enables the wireless transmission of water meter readings directly to the Salisbury Rowan Utilities from regional collectors located on existing water tanks and towers. This innovative system will collect multiple reads per day, allowing for better leak detection, increased billing accuracy, and improved customer service.
