Salisbury Mayor Karen Alexander will host a free baseball and softball camp for local youth at Catawba College, Saturday, Sept. 9, as part of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) continued support of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) “PLAY BALL SUMMER” initiative.

Salisbury residents who participated in the Community Action Planning Sessions, which centered on four focus areas necessary for Salisbury’s future, will reconvene Monday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 19, to collectively approve the strategic goals they developed earlier in the year.

Smarter Water Management is Coming to Salisbury-Rowan Utilities!

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities has contracted with Vanguard Utility Service for the installation of an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system. Advanced metering technology enables the wireless transmission of water meter readings directly to the Salisbury Rowan Utilities from regional collectors located on existing water tanks and towers. This innovative system will collect multiple reads per day, allowing for better leak detection, increased billing accuracy, and improved customer service.

City of Salisbury 2026 July 4 Operations Schedule

Salisbury, N.C. (Monday, June 29, 2026) – The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for the July 4 holiday, Friday, July 3.

City office buildings, including the Salisbury Customer Service Center will be closed. City recreation facilities will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4,

The Fred M. Evans Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Salisbury Community Park will be open from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bell Tower Green will also operate on its regular schedule, with restrooms open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The City’s public works department will offer its regular garbage and recycling collection. The department will not offer limb collection. The City of Salisbury compost will be closed.

Salisbury Transit will operate on a reduced holiday schedule. Routes 1 and 2, Salisbury Connect (Microtransit / Route 3 / Blue Zone), and ADA Paratransit services will operate from 6 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities administrative offices will be closed. In case of a water/sewer emergency during the holiday or after hours, customers should call (704) 638-5339. The 24-hour online bill pay service will be available at salisburync.gov/customerservice.

The police and fire departments will remain available for emergency services, as usual, during the holiday.
