Recognized as a “Tree City USA” locality for more than 30 years, the City of Salisbury is dedicated to the health, vitality and well-being of our city trees. Now that we are able to move forward with the City Park Lake project, we have to think about the best uses of the park as a whole and the long-term effects of the landscaped areas around it.

Pets give us unconditional love, but their waste certainly does not. Contrary to some thinking, pet feces is not a fertilizer for soil or plants, and quite the opposite of good intentions can occur. Pet “poop” can affect stormwater quality by running off into storm drains and in to streams, creating potential algae blooms and affecting water toxicity.

Evans Pool on Saturday, September 7, 1 to 5:30 p.m. for the annual Doggie Dip Swim Party. This special day is for all well-mannered dogs and their handlers to enjoy the sun and water while meeting others who share the same interest.
