The U.S. Census Bureau has announced the new 2020 Census deadline is Wednesday, September 30.
Residents are asked to respond as soon as possible to ensure Rowan County secures its fair share of the $675 billion federal dollars. The federal money assists with things like schools, road construction, hospitals, workforce initiatives and substance abuse programs in Rowan County.
Responding to the Census: Most residents should have received a letter from the U.S. Census Bureau that contains an individualized code to access the online questionnaire. Those who have not received a letter or have misplaced it can go directly to www.2020census.gov
. The 2020 Census questionnaire can also be completed over the phone by calling (844) 330-2020
for English or (844) 468-2020
Who should be counted? You should be counted where you were living and sleeping most of the time as of April 1, 2020. If you are responding for your home, count everyone who was living and sleeping there most of the time as of April 1, 2020.
Census Takers in your neighborhood: In the coming months, census data collectors will be in Salisbury going door-to-door to private homes only if residents have not responded to the census or if one of the required responses was incomplete. They will have identification with a watermark from the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as a photo of themselves with their name and the expiration date.
Let’s do our part to #MakeRoCoCount.
