Monday, June 12, Kendra Rachelle Whitaker was seriously injured as a result of crash on Jake Alexander Blvd. Abraham Teya Morris is suspected of driving while impaired, driving at a high speed and crossing left of center into the lane of Whitaker.
In an effort to reduce crime and make the city safer for all residents, the Salisbury Police on Wednesday, June 14, executed a knock and announce search warrant at 812 S. Clay St.
The Salisbury Police Department was notified today by Brandy Cook, the District Attorney for Rowan County Prosecutorial District 19C, that upon the application of the law, and the subsequent facts in this case, criminal charges would not be filed in the officer-involved shooting death of Mr. Ferguson Laurent Jr.
The City of Salisbury has named Greensboro Police Captain Shon Fitzgerald Barnes as its deputy police chief. Barnes has an extensive background in law enforcement, with a career spanning nearly two decades serving the City of Greensboro Police Department.

On Saturday night May 28, 2016 at 10:36pm Salisbury Police Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of E. Fisher and S. Shaver St. When officers arrived, they came in contact with a shooting victim identified as Christopher Shepherd, age 44 of Salisbury. EMS was called and transported Shepherd to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center. He was then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for further treatment. He has since been released.
