Traffic Advisory: Mocksville Ave.

Duke Energy contractors will begin infrastructure upgrade work along Mocksville Avenue starting Tuesday, Jan. 13. The work is expected to take approximately seven days to complete and will occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Anticipated work zone will be along Mocksville Avenue from Rutherford Street to approximately 150 feet past the intersection of Confederate Avenue and Mocksville Avenue. Motorists should use caution and watch for crews in the area.

Shooting Suspect Arrested

On November 5, 2025, the Salisbury Police Department Violent Crimes Unit placed Messiah Swindell (25 years old) under arrest for the shooting that occurred on October 4, 2025, in the 1100 block of West Horah Street.

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Salisbury Police officers responded to a disturbance call at the Cookout restaurant located on East Innes Street. Upon arrival, the first responding officer encountered a male subject armed with a knife. As the second officer arrived, a struggle ensued, and the suspect began swinging the knife, causing minor injuries to one of the officers.

City of Salisbury Awarded Rural Infrastructure Grant

The City of Salisbury has been awarded $850,000 through the North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Rural Transformation Grant Fund. The grant will support renovations to the 30,000-square-foot building located at 130 South Main Street, formerly known as the Wells Fargo Building, with improvements to lighting, flooring, fire and HVAC systems.
