Salisbury Transit is pleased to announce that rides will be free on all fixed routes for Election Day, Tuesday November 7th. Free rides will be offered from the beginning to the end of the service day on all buses, Salisbury Transit wants to help you get to your polling place. You do not need to show a pass in order to ride. Friday, Nov 10 the City of Salisbury will be observing Veterans Day and there will be NO bus service. In thanks to our Veterans, our Veterans will ride the bus FREE on Saturday, November 11th.

W. Lane Bailey, city manager, Salisbury, North Carolina, was installed today as Southeast Regional Vice President of ICMA, the International City/County Management Association, during the organization’s 103rd Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas. He was elected for the three-year term on June 23.
Beginning next month the Salisbury Police Department will expand its community oriented policing efforts to include a quarterly informational series entitled, “Community Classroom.”
Positions will replace assistant city manager, public safety recruiter
With the upcoming retirement of Assistant City Manager John Sofley, and a department change for a former human resources employee, Salisbury management will fill the two vacant positions with revised job titles and responsibilities. A full-time city attorney and a human relations manager will join the team in the latter part of 2017.
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities has contracted with Vanguard Utility Service for the installation of an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system. Advanced metering technology enables the wireless transmission of water meter readings directly to the Salisbury Rowan Utilities from regional collectors located on existing water tanks and towers. This innovative system will collect multiple reads per day, allowing for better leak detection, increased billing accuracy, and improved customer service.
At the June 6 meeting, Council held a public hearing on and adopted the FY18 budget. The new fiscal year begins July 1.
Downtown Salisbury, Inc. (DSI) has signed a real estate contract that may provide for the long-awaited redevelopment of the historic Empire Hotel on South Main Street.
The City of Salisbury has been awarded two separate grants totaling $131,562 for improvements along the Carolina Thread Trail which coincides with a portion of the Salisbury Greenway.
