City of Salisbury receives Local Government Innovation Award For 2020 Cheerwine Festival
Yesterday, Centralina Regional Council announced the recipients of the Region of Excellence Awards in a virtual ceremony. Presented annually, these awards recognize individuals, communities and organizations for their outstanding achievements in support of Centralina’s mission to expand opportunity and improve quality of life in the nine-county, Centralina region. Salisbury was awarded the local government innovation award for the virtual 2020 Cheerwine Festival.
Riding a bike is fun, healthy and an environmentally friendly form of transportation. As we celebrate National Bike Month, the Pedal Factory and Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department share some tips for safe and happy riding.
With the 2021 Cheerwine Festival just around the corner, Salisbury Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteer groups to assist with the daylong festivities on Saturday, Sept. 18th. Civic and service organizations are encouraged to volunteer in groups of 10 people or more for at least one, three-hour period.
The City of Salisbury Parks and Recreation will offer summer camps for youths this year, with COVID-19 restrictions. Summer camp programs will be conducted with COVID-19 safety protocols in place and will follow recommendations from the CDC, state and local health officials.
TOUCH-A-TRUCK is returning to the Salisbury Civic Center located at 315 Martin Luther King Jr Ave South on Saturday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as a drive-thru event.

Starting a career with the City of Salisbury in 2006, Teri Shaw currently serves as a recreation coordinator for the parks and recreation department. She is responsible for planning and operating activities at the City Park Recreation Center. In her role, Teri supervises recreation aides, manages the facility’s budget and works alongside various instructors, individuals, and community groups to schedule events and activities at City Park.
