Update to Vance Ave Suspect Arrested in Shooting Incident

Salisbury Police Detectives have charged Jorod Qutez Young with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Seriously Injure and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling in connection with the May 2, 2026 shooting in the 600 block of Vance Avenue.

City of Salisbury 2026 Memorial Day Operations Schedule

City of Salisbury 2026 Memorial Day Operations Schedule

Salisbury, N.C. (Wednesday, May 20, 2026) – The City of Salisbury will operate on the following schedule for Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

City office buildings, including the Salisbury Customer Service Center and all recreation centers, will be closed. Fred M. Evans Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The city’s public works department will offer its regular garbage and recycling collection. The department will not offer limb collection. The City of Salisbury compost site is closed.

Salisbury Transit Routes 1 and 2, Salisbury Connect (Microtransit / Route 3 / Blue Zone), and ADA Paratransit services will not operate. Regular services will resume on Tuesday, May 26, at 6 a.m.

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities administrative offices will be closed. In case of a water/sewer emergency during the holiday or after hours, customers should call (704) 638-5339. The 24-hour online bill pay service will be available at salisburync.gov/customerservice.

Salisbury Community Park will be open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The police and fire departments will remain available for emergency services, as usual, during the holiday.
