Salisbury is making a change to its Salisbury-Rowan Utilities’ bill payment system that affects 1 percent of its customers. As the city moves towards reducing its carbon footprint and operating more efficiently, six utility-bill drop box locations in Rowan County – Salisbury (2), China Grove, Rockwell, Granite Quarry and Spencer -- will be removed on Friday, April 1. As cooks gear up for the holiday season, Salisbury-Rowan Utilities has a few tips for discarding leftover Fats, Oils, Grease, also known as FOG. When fat, oil, grease and wax is poured or flushed down the drain it may not travel very far through your pipes. FOG will accumulate and stick to the pipe walls causing future sewer backups in your home, condominium, restaurant, or other buildings.
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU), the water and wastewater provider for the City of Salisbury and other Rowan County municipalities, has been honored for exceeding federal and state drinking water standards for the second year in a row. SRU was one of only 64 out of 6,000 North Carolina water systems to achieve the recognition for 2020.
